Taiko no Tatsujin Wii U confirmed!

A post on Gematsu confirms the existence of a Taiko no Tatsujin Wii U, apparently from a Famitsu scan!

As of this writing we don't have a picture of the scan yet, but the source is reliable so we might run into it sooner or later. Taiko Wii U is said to be released on November 21, 2013, and utilizes all available control methods for Wii U and Wii, which are the Gamepad buttons, touchscreen, Wiimote on side, probably Classic Controller Pro, and the Wii Tatacon. This is in line with our predictions we made back in 2011 about the flexibility in control methods being too good to pass up (and saving money because Namco won't have to re-manufacture a new Tatacon for another console).

The number of songs is not confirmed yet, but this is the current list given by Gematsu:
  • Momoiro Taiko Dodonga Setsu (Momoiro Clover Z)
  • Ninjyary Banban (Kyary Pamyu Pamyu)
  • Sayonara Crawl (AKB48)
  • 123 Koi ga Hajimaru (Ikimono Gakari)
  • Flower Song (Exile)
  • Hands Up! (One Piece)
  • Diamond Happy (Aikatsu!!)
  • Goushoku My Way (Toriko)
  • Vamola!! Kyoryuger (Jyuden Sentai Kyoruger)
  • Yasei Pokemon Ikusa Medley (Pokemon X and Y)
  • Oshiete Kuma Tomo (Kuma Tomo)
  • Amachan Opening Theme (Amachan)
A Pokemon XY Medley! Definitely one to please, this songlist.

Stay tuned for more updates on the new console Taiko!

Thanks to CRAZ1ah from Nintendo 5-Star for the heads-up!
