First screenshots of Taiko no Tatsujin: Don to Katsu no Jikuu Daibouken

Posted exactly on midnight Japan time on Famitsu's website is the official announcement of the new Taiko no Tatsujin game, Don to Katsu no Jikuu Daibouken (太鼓の達人 どんとかつの時空大冒険, lit. Don and Katsu's Big Space-Time Adventure) for 3DS, and though details are still sketchy, we have a few new screens to go by!

The main play screen hasn't changed much from 3DS1. A new song is shown though; the Attack on Titan opening theme "Guren no Yumiya" is now confirmed to be in the game.

The rest of the short article discusses the new costumes and the revamped RPG story mode, which will be the highlight of this portable Taiko adventure.

This is what the RPG overworld map looks like! Once more, Don-chan goes through a time portal back into the past, and has to save the world. It's no longer top-down like back in Taiko DS3, and the graphics are in simple 3D. More interestingly, why isn't Don-chan on the battle screen proper? Other monsters doing the fighting too?

And they have levels, HP, names, types? Anyone reminded of anything?

You can customize Don-chan with costume parts, powering him up too. The parts themselves have types too!

Expect more details in this Thursday's blog post, or next week's! To reiterate, the release date is June 26th, 2014!
