All members are assigned one of the six battle types, which enhances their abilities when placed in specific ways among the three rows of your team.

- Short Distance (きんきょり): increased damage dealt when put in Front
- Mid Distance (ちゅうきょり): increased damage dealt even when put in Middle
- Long Distance (えんきょり): damage dealt not reduced even when put in Back
- Defense (ぼうぎょ): reduced damage taken of everyone when put in Front
- Magic (まほう): suffers no row effect whichever row is put in
- Heal (かいふく): does not attack, but heals all members one row in front, or its own row if no one needs healing in front
